Itinerary

Day 1

Welcome To The Land Of Eternal Spring!

On arrival at Guatemala’s La Aurora Airport, our local guide will transfer us to Lake Atitlán, one of the most beautiful areas in the world, with its crystalline azure waters in the crater bowl below. Atitlán is the ideal place to come in contact with Guatemalan folklore. Twelve Indian villages surround the Lake, and their inhabitants are descendants from the great Quiché, Cackchiquel, and Tzutuhil nations.

Note: Driving time from Guatemala City to Lake Atitlán is approximately 3 hours.

Day 2

Around Lake Atitlán

Today we will start the morning with a wellness activity overlooking the beautiful Lake Atitlán, surrounded by volcanos. Afterwards is brunch at one of the best restaurants at the lake “Casa Palopo” – taste the traditional food and enjoy one to of the best views of the lake. Following is a boat to San Antonio Palopo to discover the pottery factory with ancestral Mayan designs. After that we will take a boat to San Juan, where we will dip into the Guatemalan traditional and cultural way of making the colorful Guatemalan clothes. Next is a short walk to a beekeeping farm to learn about and taste three different types of honeys. Our last stop in San Juan is the viewpoint “Kaqasiiwaan” to enjoy a gorgeous sunset! At the end we will take a boat back to our hotel.

Day 3

Mayan Ceremony

During this day we’ll be able to connect with an ancestral Mayan tradition. We will start by taking a shuttle from Panajachel to San Andres SemetaBaj. After our short drive we will take a walk to where our “Ajquij” (Mayan Spiritual Guide) will guide us. This will be inside one of the Mayan archeological parks. After the ritual we will take a boat back to our hotel. 

Our day will also include yoga/wellness activity and leisure time.

Note: Have an open mind for this spiritual experience. Be prepared that a Mayan ceremony is a spiritual connection that cannot be stopped until it ends. Know that it can take more time than expected. We will have the opportunity to participate in the ritual by making requests/wishes.

Day 4

San Marcos La Laguna and the Eagle’s Nest

Today we’ll have the pleasure to experience the most picturesque yoga class yet!  We will take a boat to San Marcos La Laguna to reach the Eagle’s Nest – an awe-inspiring ecological resort and world-class event venue with gorgeous views of the lake and surrounding volcanoes. Once finished there we’ll take a boat back to the hotel and enjoy the shops and restaurants around, and leisure time.

Day 5

Lake Atitlán to Antigua, visit Iximche ruins

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll take a shuttle to our second main destination – Antigua Guatemala. In the middle of the trip we’ll make a stop to tour Iximche, where we will explore and discover the biggest and oldest Kaqchikel city that is now historic ruins. Once we end with the tour, we’ll have lunch in a roadside restaurant famous for it’s delicious local food. We will continue the ride to Antigua and have free time to walk in the historical streets of the city.

Note: Our hotels in Lake Atitlan and in Antigua are located right in the city centers, so walking out to explore, shop, eat and more is fun and convenient. Our day will also include yoga/wellness activity.

Day 6

Hands on local villages tour

We’ll start our day with a bus ride to San Antonio Aguas Calientes, where we’ll explore the town’s history through its ancient textile traditions and stories from our local guide. You’ll also have the unique opportunity to wear traditional clothing for a special photoshoot.

Next, we’ll visit Guatemala’s first capital, Ciudad Vieja, where you’ll learn how to make tortillas, a staple in Mayan cuisine.

After tasting our creations, we head to San Pedro Las Huertas to discover the significance of jade in Mayan culture and see local artisans at work. We will appreciate the artisans work with the option to acquire any of the products.

From there, we’ll visit an artisanal chocolate factory in San Juan del Obispo to learn about the traditional chocolate-making process.

Our day ends at a local winery, where we’ll enjoy a tasting of artisanal wines and local delicacies before returning to the hotel.

Day 7

Atv Tour, Hobbitenango, Coffee and Cacao Farm

 We’ll finish our adventures with a bang! After breakfast, we will walk to the Simoon Tours office to start our ATV tour. Our first stop is “El cerro de la Cruz” – the most famous viewpont in Antigua with a panoramic view of the vally and all three volcanoes. From there we will ride up to Hobbitenango, a mountain located 2300 meters above the sea level with the Lord of The Rings theme where we will enjoy different activities including a giant swing called “El Grito”. The second part of the day, we will get to the coffee farm called La Azotea. One of the oldest places in Jocotenangp. We’ll partake in a profound coffee tour from one of our most experienced guides in the field, and at the end we’ll get a chance to share time together with some drinks and food.

Day 8

Antigua – Departure

Enjoy your last morning with breakfast and an optional wellness activity. Today we’ll depart from Antigua to La Aurora Airport for our flight home. Flights must depart after 12:00 PM in order to provide the transfer.
